Having the gastric sleeve done was not an easy decision for me , but I knew I needed to do something drastic for my health. My husband for years has tried to get me to eat healthy and lose weight but I had no will power and being a diabetic did not help the situation. I had 2 nieces that had the procedure done in Mexico and did great, so on a brainstorm I bit the bullet and took the first step. My friends and family asked me often what my husband thought of me having the surgery. I told them he told our girls for a couple of years I was going to die due to my health and not changing my eating habits. I knew he was right, so I had the surgery gastric sleeve on August 15 ,2017. Everything went well . I was a little nervous and anxious and being an RN knew about more complications that could have occurred. But these doctors do several thousands of these surgeries and having the experience is a must. So yes I made the right choice to have this procedure done and to have it done in Mexico . I do have medical insurance but it is more affordable when done in Mexico , plus there is no waiting to get procedure done and no psych evaluation. I also did not have to use all my sick time going back and forth to dr before the procedure. I was able to take off 6 weeks ( my choice) and stay off work with my new grandson. I have lost 28 lbs so far and my diabetes is better and no blood pressure pills and hopefully within a few months I will be off my blood sugar pills. Yes the surgery was the right choice for me.
