Due to my age I was very nervous about having this procedure; however, since having the gastric sleeve two weeks ago I've lost 10 pounds and am feeling well on the way to recovery. I was surprised at how little post-op pain I experienced, though some others in my group had discomfort from gas pains. I took Gas-X right after the surgery and didn't have any difficulty. My stitches are out now and I'm beginning to eat mushy food. Though the surgery was relatively painless I was tired afterwards and needed to rest for about a week. The most challenging part for me is adjusting to a new diet, trying to figure out what I can and can't eat and how much. Initially there was this feeling of discomfort even when I sipped on liquids, like the drink was having difficulty going into my stomach. I still feel nauseated if I drink too rapidly or too much and more solid foods fill my stomach very quickly. I'm unused to the feeling of being full and am learning what that sensation means. This is definitely a big step and one that requires a lot of thought as it is a permanent life change. So far I have no regrets and am looking forward to being a healthier slimmer me.
