When I discovered that I needed to remove my lap band, I began to surf the net and found Dr Alamanza. For fear that I might gain more weight, I decided to have the sleeve as well. Together, they were about 1/4 cost of the removal of the band alone in the states. The first obstacle I had to over come was going alone. Nervous as I was, I headed off! (My friends thought by not going with me, I'd back out!). I have to state NEVER was I alone! I met my roommate at the pickup point, from there it was a breeze. I think there were about 8 of us the day I had surgery. In the states, I ALWAYS have problems with the IV procedure, hating to admit that was my scariest moment. The nurse totally surprised me, she got it on the first stick! From there, again, it was a breeze! The healing time went quickly, I've lost about 30 lbs, and still losing. About the hair loss, having thin hair already, I wasn't surprised that I experienced that as well. I'm about 6 mo out, and just starting to see new growth, thank goodness! I'm sure I could have lost more weight, but I only had about 50 to lose so I'm good with where I am. I would recommend this path to anyone who is struggling and just can't tackle the battle!
