I was a bit unsure about going down to Mexico to have the surgery done, and even had a panic attack the morning of surgery questioning myself about whether I should be going through with it or not. I kept myself extremely anxious (in my opinion) during my stay there for no reason. The care was phenomenal and better than you receive here in the states. The major thing missing is (of course) counseling, detail discussion about surgery, etc, but that is expected. The surgeon does come in and speak to you and others about what to expect pre/post and during surgery and is very nice. You even get a quick EKG and blood work and have a consultation with a cardiologist before you go into surgery. What I will say is if you plan on going to get it done, TAKE SOMEONE WITH YOU. Although it is a great experience, it is very overwhelming to be there by yourself without your usual support system. That is my only regret, otherwise, I am so glad I went. The day I went to surgery, I had met a nice little group of people who were a great support system, which from what I understand, is common (however, Fridays and Mondays have the most people as there are more surgeries according to the nurse there).
Lots of luck to everyone!!!
