I had some health issues set me back in 2013. I have been over weight my entire life, but it never stopped me from living my life to the fullest. I have been a first responder for many years now. I have thoroughly thrashed my body in the process. In 2013 I started to gain weight quickly after an emergency surgery. I had been 220lbs for many years. I began to suffer balance problems from the weight gain. I exercised like crazy I monitored my food with too much diligence. Nothing I did made me loose any weight. Sleep apnea, exhaustion, and pain in my knees and feet became my new normal. I kept working and helping people. This last year I stepped on the scale and cried as I weighed in at 305lbs. I slipped and fell.and fractured my tibia and chipped my patella. It was awful. I just kept going. I went to see the orthopedic doctor. He proceeded to tell me that I was fat. I left his office in tears. I felt like a prisoner inside my body. I could barely walk good. My balance was worse than ever and I fell again. I was working with a gal who told me about getting a gastric sleeve and she sent me the link. She told me NOT to think about it. She told me to just go get it done and not look back. I listened to her. That is exactly what I did. I am currently 248lbs and a size 20 headed for size 18. I was 305lbs when I started and a size 26. None of that is as cool as being able to walk without pain in my feet and knees. I am currently on Vacation in Vieques Puerto and I just went on a hike today. A hike that I was physically incapable of achieving 1 year ago. This is joy.
Give yourself the gift of living this great big life to its fullest. That's how I see it. First picture was 1 day after surgery. Second picture 1 month and third picture is 2 month mark. I am at the 3 month mark and included a picture of me on my hike. Being pain free is incredible.
