I started looking for something to help me get better from a very debilitating back problem that was basically making me chair bound most of my day. Walking was painful and I found no relief on muscles relaxers or pain meds. I went to see a Spinal surgeon to see what was wrong with me and was told my L5 was smashing my nerves and making my leg numb and causing very severe pain on my hip. I was told surgery was the only way to fix it however my BMI was very high 46 and I was weighing 367 pounds at that day.
I was so depressed because I am an outdoor kind of fella and walking is one of my favorite things to do.
So, I start me research and with a help of a friend that had himself had the VSG 5 years ago I made the decision to move forward. I found Weighlossagents.com page and it was a breeze thru the process to get approved by the doctor and had my surgery date set in Mexico since I had no time to wait and do the chair dance with my insurance.
I was picked up at the San Diego airport along with 7 other people and we were taken to the Baja hospital in Tijuana. I was pleasantly surprised by how modern and clean the hospital was and how nice and kind the nursing stuff were.
I had bunch of blood tests and an EKG done on the night prior my procedure and I was up at 5 am to have my legs wrapped in bandages to prevent blood clots and an IV line was started.
Went to down stairs and the doctor Alamanza did a brief explanation of what we should expect from the procedure that morning.
The post-surgery recovery was smooth, and I had no complications whatsoever.
Walked that gas out in two days and we all were discharged and dropped off at the San Diego airport to go home. (we had leak tests done day before to make sure we were okay to leave)
I am today two months out and short 3 pounds of 100 loss. It's amazing. Even my PCP yesterday was shocked when she walked in the room for my routine checkups and I was taken out of blood pressure meds and I do not need a Cpap anymore. It actually makes me uncomfortable and dry's my mouth a lot so I am off it for good.
I have about 50 pounds to go to get to my goal of 220 because if I go any lower, I will be looking to skinny. ( I am 6'3)
I do recommend Dr Almanza and the Baja hospital if you are looking for a life change procedure.
The people on the weightlossagents.com were phenomenal and do not believe on the lies they tell online about it.
Cannot wait for the rest of my life now and do all the things I was unable to do for the last 5 years.
I am 34 BMI today(it was 46)
21% body Fat
270 Pounds
Cheers.
