3 years ago, I had endometrial cancer. My life forever changed. I realized that life is short and that our bodies are not machines. We have to take care of them if we want them to keep going.
One day I woke up and decided that I didn't want to be fat anymore. I didn't want the excess fat and weight that had literally and physically held me down for so long to be an obstacle anymore. I didn't want the fat that was surrounding my organs to feed more cancer.
I scheduled my surgery and 1.5 weeks later, I was in Mexico. I had to take out a loan. I had to go by myself. But this time I decided that I was willing to sacrifice anything for my health. I wasn't going to let my fears get the best of me.
My trip to Mexico was uneventful. I landed in San Diego and the driver picked me up at the airport and took us to the hotel. We missed the opportunity to do our pre-op tests the day before. We settled in nicely. The hotel was nice and the staff was nice and accommodating.
The next day we had to be at Green Health & Hospital at 9am. Everything moved quickly at that point. I paid cash, to get the cash discount and that was taken care of first. Then an EKG, then blood work. we were taken to the room we stayed in (me and 2 roommates) and got IVs. Dr. A came to talk to us and surgery was shortly after. Everyone was AMAZING! We stayed the night. I got sick, but the staff made sure I was comfortable. The next day we went back to the hotel and were on the road to recovery.
The first 3 weeks after surgery are the hardest BY FAR. The liquid diet gets old pretty quick, but it allows you healing time.
I'm almost 3 months out now (10 days shy) and I'm down 59lb. I've never felt better! I started at 265 and I'm currently 205. I've gone from a size 22 to a 16. I am making good choices constantly and I'm so amazed at how not only the size of my stomach has changed, my heart, my mind and my spirit have changed as well.
I'd go back in a heartbeat. Dr. Alvarez is amazing. The staff is amazing. The facilities are nice. This has been the best decision I've ever made for myself. I decided that I was worth it.
