I struggled with my weight since I was in High School. Only being 5' my night always made me look even larger then I already was. My father had the gastric sleeve surgery a little over a year ago and he was very large. Saying that he looks great and is tackling life with no limits is an understatement. So, I did some research about the surgery. Ricks, pros, cons etc.. The pros outweighed the risks and the fact that I was very insecure about my body eliminated the risks. It was a risk I was willing to take after I had read about Dr. Choi and the number of years he has been performing this surgery alone and how many patients have had positive results. Miami's hospital the I visited was in a great area, close to the airport so there wasn't much running around before or after. The nurses had me in and out, I think I sat in the post-op room for maybe 10 minutes and I was undressed and have an IV in ready to go. They brought me to the surgery room and before I knew it I was awake, a little loopy from the drugs but very aware that starting on June 3rd at 2:30pm my new life was about to start. The nurses were very nice and prompt when I needed anything at all. This Thursday August 6th will be 10 weeks since I've had my surgery and I'm very happy to report I have lost almost 35lbs. I want to thank Larkin Hospital for taking such great care of me, Dr. Choi for making this all happen and the wonderful nurses on my patient portal for answering any and all (even the most obvious ones) in a timely manner! One thing I love is that the whole group is still contacting me 10 weeks later to see how I'm doing, that right there is showing they go above and beyond for their patients.
