You are my hero........ I spent 2 years trying to get my insurance company to cover my surgery but was denied every time due to them not covering Bariatric Surgery. I started searching online after hearing about lower cost procedures being done in foreign countries. When I found several I started investigating each and was left with 2 choices. I talked to my primary care doctor and he also checked out both facilities and advised me that yours would be his facility of choice.
The day that I received the word that my financing was approved was the happiest day of my life; I sat in my chair at work and cried. I knew that I was only a few weeks away from getting my life back, to becoming the man that I wanted to be.
On April 16, 2012 I weighed 379 pounds; I arrived at Jerusalem Hospital and met you and your staff. At approx 5pm that day I had my surgery and walked back to my recovery room. The next day I went to the hotel for recovery and proceeded to go for a half mile walk with my wife around the hotel. It felt great, no complications no problems, just dreams of the future.
It is now January 11, 2013 and my current weight as of this morning was 240 pounds that is a loss of 139 pounds. I am walking 3 miles a day and doing weights for 45-60 minutes per day. I can now go shopping without stopping to get my breath.
Before surgery I had many medical problems, such as: Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea, and Cardio Atriofibulation. I was taking 19 pills per day. Today NO DIABETES, NO SLEEP APNEA, NO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, NO CARIO A-FIB. I only take multivitamins and calcium tablets daily. I eat only those foods that are good for me. LOTS OF VEGGIES.
As a result of the surgery I can only eat so much at a time and have become very selective as to what goes in my mouth. I will not be overweight again.
I have my life back and I LOVE it and you for giving me the opportunity to become a MAN again.
My next step is having the excess skin removed, but I am being told I would wait till at least 18-24 months post op. Well when it is time I will be seeing you, if not for the procedure but at least to give you one large BEAR HUG.
