I am 56 years old and now 13 months post sleeving. I have lost 76 lbs, which is slower than many people. However, considering my age and being menopausal, I am quite happy. I also think that a slower loss is healthier for me. I highly recommend this surgery and this surgeon. Although it was a bit of a whirlwind, the overall experience in Tijuana was very positive. I have heard that all patients now stay in the hotel with the nurses available there. I do think this is an improvement over the recovery house, as it was very crowded and a bit like being in summer camp. This is the best decision I could ever have made for my health. I never needed BP meds or anti-cholesterol meds again. I still have 30 - 40 lbs to loose and will try to do it over the coming year. However, even at 202 lbs, my health gain has been fantastic. I have encouraged others to explore the surgery and would recommend Dr. Almanza. Do your research and have confidence in your decision. The sleeve was a fantastic thing for me to do, although many around me were skeptical. It is time for this surgery to come out of the closet and become better known to people who are serious about changing the course of their life.
