To preface my weight loss journey, I feel like I have literally tried it ALL! I had good success with numerous diets and exercise regimens but they were usually not sustainable long term and the weight always came back and then some. Most diets/exercise regimens unrealistic to continue for the rest of your life and I would falter and give up. I am an emotional eater and stress and anxiety plays a big role in this. This past year I noticed my joints were aching intensely, physical activity was becoming increasingly harder and harder. Simple household chores left me in a pool of sweat and exhausted. Although I was in good health not suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease, I knew these were inevitable if I didn't make a drastic change.
Last fall my brother-in-law and his father and his sister traveled together and had the gastric sleeve procedure with Dr. Almanza. They had all done very well and had lost significant weight. Later his wife reached out to me to see if I would be interested in having the procedure and traveling with her to do so. I did quite a bit of research with Weight Loss Agents and other bariatric clinics in Mexico and came to the conclusion that I was ready and that Weight Loss Agents and Dr. Almanza were a good fit.
My procedure could not have gone better! Dr. Almanza was great and the staff was attentive and informative and language barrier was not an issue. The surgical center is beautiful and brand new, absolutely immaculate! I had very little to no pain or discomfort immediately after surgery, in fact I was up walking laps shortly after and felt great! The days to follow were spent at the Hotel as we had a guest with us and we recovered comfortably and were well taken care of by the hotel staff and nursing staff.
I was sent home with all the information and medication I needed to aid my recovery along with a lot of helpful information provided by the dietician we met with to help through each phase of post op diet. I am about 5 weeks post op having lost around 27 pounds in my first 2 1/2 to 3 weeks but have hit my first stall. I was really frustrated to hit that stall, but as I did more research and followed some helpful blogs, I found this is very normal and that my body is normalizing from the dramatic weight loss and as I stabilize with the food phase transitions I will start losing again. However, I'm noticing that the inches are coming off greatly even though the scale hasn't moved. Good new though, just this morning I had FINALLY lost another pound. Yay for little victories!!! Staying positive and realizing that this is normal and I just need to be patient is key! I feel great and wouldn't change my decision at all! I want to express my heart felt thanks to Dr. Almanza and his staff for helping me change my life for the better!!!
