Now, we were a little surprised that the clinic is very small, but the staff were amazing and the place was spotless. I was the last out of 8 people having surgery as I also opted for eyelid surgery also. I went into surgery at 10.30 at night and they started the surgeries around noon, so it was a very long day of waiting.
As I had expected there is some initial pain after surgery not in the stomach but the most awful gas pains ever, out of the group of 8 we all experienced it some less than others. I suggest you take the Gas x strips with you that melt on the tongue they help tremendously.
After one night at the clinic we were driven to the recovery house, once again small and a little cramped but very clean and the staff were just amazing. The two male nurses that cared for us were so sweet, patient and caring, I have never seen anything like that in the States. We were there for three nights before we left. They gave us a small pouch with our meds in and directions and we were ready to go on our way.
I am now 6 weeks out and it has not been easy, its tough when you are used to eating so much and then you are down to very few calories a day, after the initial two weeks of liquids starting to eat solids was very hard. But you find out very quickly how much your stomach will allow cause if you over do it, you will vomit, I did that a lot.
The stiches have healed very nicely, My eyes are amazing for only 6 weeks, my doctor here said the cosmetic surgeon did a fantastic job so I am very happy about that. I have lost 35 pounds and adjusting well to my new way of life. I should also share that I was extremely exhausted for the first month I guess it only stands to reason when you are doing exactly the same activites but your running around on only a few hundred calories.
So as I said it is still very early days for me, but I wanted to share my experience anyway. Would I do it again absolutely! would I do it in Mexico with Dr. Almanza absolutely.
