Before surgery, I was worried about the pain. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. About 12 hours after surgery I was able to walk back over to the hotel. Just 2 days later, I walked about a block away to lunch. The most uncomfortable part of the whole thing was carrying around the drain for my tummy. It was quite large and not too easy to conceal. I had drainage for about 2 weeks which meant I flew home with the drain. It was really easy to remove the drain and I felt absolutely no pain when my husband removed the tube.
Part of the reason for not feeling pain is that your nerves are cut and you lose feeling in that area. The feeling still has not returned. That was one of the side-effects that I was not aware of. I'm still glad I had the surgery and I'm considering having my arms and legs done one day as well.
The staff entire staff is professional, great and freindly. And because this is what they do, they do it all very well. Weight Loss Agents was great at helping me get ready and answered any questions or concerns I had. This all made for a good experience.
A few words of advice.
1. If you go alone (I did), then be sure you take lots to read. I think I read 4 books while recovering in the hotel. You'll be there for 1 week. You may also want to take or buy some snack foods to have in the room for those times when you just don't feel like going out. The hotel has breakfast. Consider taking 2 pieces of bread and a tomato to make a sandwich for lunch.
2. Be sure you take the appropriate support undergarments, i.e. sports bras and girdles. You'll need to use them after surgery and for the next several months. I was not aware of the girdle, but Marisol (caretaker, nurse, driver, wonderful lady) came to my rescue and picked a few garments up for me.
3. Do not get implants from here or anywhere. They really are unsafe and unhealthy.
4. Follow the directions provided for care of your incisions. I did have to buy a good strong surgical tape like butterly closures to hold the skin together in a couple of the areas until they healed.
5. Do your research and find good scar cream. Make sure you apply it according to directions. My scars are fading and I'm still applying scar cream daily.
Sorry I don't have any before pictures to share.
