I took one year to think about this surgery and it wasn't until a friend had it done in February 2015 and I seen first hand the results she was having (lost 106 lbs to date)...plus she had nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. The hotel is very clean, there is a nurses room and they are available 24 hours a day. X-rays are done on the third day to confirm no leaking of your new sleeve, this is done at a private facility. There were 6 of us that had surgery on the same day, unfortunately one lady was not able to have her gastric sleeve procedure due to scare tissue from a lapband. I was impressed that Dr. Almanza didn't proceed and did but the clients health first. I keep in contact with the other 5 ladies and everyone is doing great. I had no pain other that gas pains which do take some time to get rid of. I'm so thankful I took my heating pad, it really helped with the pain. The hospital is very clean and the staff are fantastic. I arrived on a Sunday and my surgery was Monday, on Monday I met two ladies that had surgery two days previous and I was amazed at how well they were getting around (this just confirmed for me that I had made the right decision). On my third day the driver took a group of us to Revolution Street (market in Tijuana)for about an hour of shopping...I know it doesn't seem possible. This surgery is laparoscopic and recovery is relatively fast. Like everyone else....I wish I had done this sooner. I started at 192 lbs and 17 days later I weigh 178 lbs. I haven't had feelings of hunger, I do struggle to drink my 8 cups of liquid a day but other than that it has been a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
